I have perused some Excel files posted on those forums. It's a lose-lose race between an algorhytm that steeply scales difficulty up vs people trying to keep up by pouring more and more powerful (and now shared) computation power to it.
With the soon next iteration, the cost of power + hardware required to create 1 coin slightly surpasses the income. So, as long as you are not a "what I mine myself is free" person, you either switch to some CPU factory till it'll be feasible or just don't bother.

By the way, graph is no linear, but exponential.
And to a chartist that looks like a downtrend, followed by a much more vigorous uptrend. Nothing there invalidates what I said.
You are both wrong. The relevant (towards the end) part of the graph failed to create a lower high and thus it's not a downtrend any more.
At the same time, until there's not a next higher high, the trend inversion is not confirmed.
The proper definition of that market *as of now* is RM (range market).
Even without looking at the swings, the one-but last "W" shaped bottom formation forms a so called bullish flag, which indeed would indicated Clair Bear analyzed the chart somewhat in a more accurate way, but you can clearly see how it had the usual retracement and then an attempt to trend up, which aborted. This means the previous downtrend is still exercising a lot of pressure.
The last W formation is bullish again, and is retracing. In order to have a confirmed new uptrend, the Avg Mining income has to close a weekly period over the Mid May peak. The subsequent month close also has to close with a bullish trend.
If you post a linear OHLC chart I might give a more accurate analisys, this one looks pretty awful.
